With 2012 well underway and New Year’s resolutions made, there is no better time to make a change; be that taking up a new hobby, challenging oneself or realising your potential to achieve great things.  If this combined with the opportunity to flex some dramatic muscles sounds like the way forward for you in the months that lie ahead, then read on.

If you are aged 18 years + Transitions Theatre Company would like to invite you to take part in a series of skills-based drama workshops at the Ockment Community Centre, Okehampton. Commencing on Thursday 1st March from 7.00pm-9.30pm you will have the chance to realise your dramatic ability whilst being taught invaluable stagecraft techniques by skilled and experienced drama practitioners Rob Pudner and Nigel Crabb.  Together, they have over 60 years experience of inspiring, enthusing, enriching and educating the old and young alike and have vast experience of directing and producing community and youth theatre productions. 

The cost of the 5 week block is just £50.00 which includes materials and refreshments.  Following completion of the block of sessions all participants will be given the opportunity to audition for an outdoor production of Alan Ayckbourn’s ‘Round and Round the Garden’ which has already been booked by a number of Devon venues commencing in June, including Sterts at Upton Cross and The Hatherleigh Festival.  Auditions will take place on Sunday 1st April 2012 also at the Ockment Community Centre.

If you are successful at the audition stage then a ‘transition’ will begin for you  as you move away from amateur performance and become a journeyman player and experience being part of a touring company and performing for audiences at outdoor venues across Devon.  Rob pointed out ‘we are looking for 100% commitment –rehearsals will be in the evenings and performances are at the weekend through the summer months. There is no payment for the actors but what we can guarantee is a step up the ladder, continued support, out of pocket expenses and expertise and who knows where the individuals own journey will take them!’

Nigel added ‘for those workshop participants that are not cast in this particular show, there will undoubtedly be other opportunities to work as part of the creative team and this is really just the start.  Transitions Theatre Company has other irons in the fire and plans for future productions – it’s all very exciting.’
