Forum 2012 are looking for creative performers to get involved in an exciting project taking place at the Bike Shed Theatre over the course of the next year.
Too often the methods people use to express their discontent fall to protest, anger and violence. We believe strongly that by exploring these issues honestly and creatively, and then presenting our findings in an artistic way, we can offer the communities of Exeter a voice that is accessible to all and will be more readily heard.
Created in a series of workshops, the performance will bring together the shared skills and ideas of the company of performers, while training together to create a shared language to facilitate and audience’s journey through the show.
The show itself is a journey governed by audience decisions and contributions, which will create a fictional model of Exeter, as we would like it to be.
Participants do not necessarily need strong drama skills or experience, we are looking for people who are creative thinkers and have an interest in community ideas and participatory performance.
The project is being run by three theatre professionals with over 10 years experience of working with creative audience focused projects and in drama therapy situations.
Rehearsals will be held for one full weekend per month on each fourth Saturday and Sunday. We will be working towards our first full scale Forum 2012 performance in April and we are looking for performers who are able to commit to the rehearsal schedule until the end of April. Following the April show, there will be opportunity to continue as part of the ensemble for future Forum 2012 performances.
If you would like to get involved on a voluntary basis, please send your CV with a covering letter to exeterforum2012@gmail.com by the 17th of February at the latest. Auditions will be held the 19th February with our first rehearsals the following weekend for those that are successful.
Forum 2012 is a vision of faith: in our fellow citizens; and in the ability of community wisdom to tackle complex societal challenges.
