Wide Awake Devon Producer's Scheme - Our New Team

We’ve only gone and pulled it off.

cups

Back in October, Wide Awake Devon opened applications to our Associate Producer Scheme which aims to develop a producing culture in Devon, through building awareness of producing, populating the community with new producers, pushing artists and companies to new levels of activity with the support of a producer, training opportunities for producers and artists, and an overall commitment to putting live performance in Devon firmly on the national map.

Well now, after an extraordinarily exciting and productive new beginning this month, we’d very much like to introduce our wonderful new team of Wide Awake Devon Associate Producers as well as our 4 (yes, yes I said FOUR) equally wonderful new associate artists and companies.

Here goes;

Rachael Burton
– Wide Awake Devon Associate Producer

Rachael

"I am excited to start work as an Associate Producer for Wide Awake Devon because I am keen to develop my skills as a producer through this training scheme and to play a role in the development of live performance created here in Devon. I’m sure that working with my Associate Company, Impermanence Dance Theatre will prove a fantastic challenge for me and I am thrilled to have been paired with them. I am really excited about building new working relationships with people working within the arts across Devon, and I am particularly looking forward to working with the other producers to share and develop skills and models of working."

Impermanence Dance Theatre - Wide Awake Devon Associate Company

Impermanance

"Impermanence Dance Theatre are very excited about working in close collaboration with Rachael Burton as our Associate Producer. We hope that this partnership will enable us to develop projects for 2013 and beyond that have significant reach, impact and resonance with communities and audiences throughout the region and nationally. We are commited to developing our base in Devon and to building meaningful and lasting relationships with local organisations, communities and artists. As an emerging company, we hope that this year will be fruitful and formative, helping us to build solid foundations from which to move forward."

Lizzy Pennington
– Wide Awake Devon Associate Producer

Lizzy

"I started my day by choosing a book from my shelf of beautiful notepads.  I seem to have accumulated a collection, each one a gift and very special.  Starting a blank book is a very serious matter, it is almost a ritual.  As I consider my choice I imagine all the situations I will need to pull it from my bag over the next 8 months and all the ideas I hope to fill it with.  I wonder what shape my ideas will take and what I will find along the way.  I feel sure it will be an exciting journey ahead as an associate producer for Wide Awake Devon, and I hope for a vibrantly colourful book of experiences to reflect on at the end of the summer."

As I am producing a dancer I have chosen a book without lines.

Jane Mason - Wide Awake Devon Associate Artist

"Having been self-managing and self-producing alongside creating my own work for many years I’m thrilled to become one of the artists on Wide Awake Devon’s associate producer scheme.
This opportunity to carefully build a relationship with a new producer locally represents truly exciting possibilities for how I develop my work, enabling me to hopefully build on my existing connections within the county and beyond."

Danielle Rose – Wide Awake Devon Associate Producer

I’m really looking forward to working with Le Navet Bete and Worklight Theatre over the next 8 months. Having been mainly venue based to date, working this closely and direct with these two companies will be a new challenge and chapter in my development as a Producer. Both companies have already achieved a lot and so I’m excited to see where we can go next together and what we can learn from each other. Wide Awake Devon has made these collaborations which might not have come together otherwise possible, and the scheme will be an interesting experiment in what can happen when a collective like this, 3 producers and 4 companies, is assembled.

Worklight Theatre

Worklight

"Worklight Theatre are really excited to be working with Danielle and Wide Awake Devon over the next eight months. The coming period promises to be exciting; we’re going to be developing a new show, touring How to Start a Riotand performing at various platform events throughout the year. We’re looking forward to having Danielle on board and sharing this journey with her as we all work together to learn and grow as a company and individuals."

Le Navet Bete

Nap Def

"We at Le Navet Bete are delighted to be part of the Wide Awake Devon producers scheme, for to long we have been in need of the skills and influence a producer brings to an organisation. We feel this is a necessary step in the right direction for us as an emerging theatre company, and can only aid us in improving our sphere of influence across the region and hopefully, nationally."
