SUMMARY:An interactive installation...'Timeless'. Touring local schools in the Exeter area.
DESCRIPTION:

We work collaboratively to highlight and explore contemporary issues in society.

Our project, ‘Timeless’ is an investigation into the current debate surrounding online privacy on social networking sites such as Facebook.

In addition to exploring how we can physicalize a virtual environment, this project places the life ‘Lea Raimont’ in the space, providing students with the opportunity to explore her past as a result of her ‘open’ privacy settings.

The purpose of the piece: to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining strong security settings when operating online and to highlight that people are not always who they appear to be.

Our Interactive Installation creates a new way of exploring this, and after huge success at a school in Exeter, we have decided to tour this project to other schools.

Hire fee to be negotiated. Please contact us if you are interested in this educational piece of theatre. Reference on request.

SUMMARY:Edith's Walk
DESCRIPTION:
An Exeter Blitz Audio Tour. Follow Edith through the city centre as the ghosts of Exeter emerge from the rubble to tell their stories.

Members of Exeter based company, SourDough Theatre, have collaborated with Dan Smith from WootWoo.com to create a new audio experience for the city, to commemorate the bombing of Exeter in 1942.

The tour takes the listener on a journey through central Exeter, guiding them to places of resonance in relation to the Blitz. Places where 18th century buildings stood, roads that were flattened and structures that were damaged yet survived. The tour comprises of stories and memories surrounding wartime Exeter and the night of May 4th, woven together with soundscapes and voices that echo from beneath your feet.

“We want the people of Exeter to walk through the city with a new perspective. For us, this project has uncovered a part of Exeter’s rich history. We now look at the high street in a very different way, realizing what was lost and why the city is now shaped as it is.” SourDough Theatre.

The tour has been made in association with Viva Voce and The Bike Shed Theatre as part of The Exeter Blitz Project. The tour is one of many events happening throughout the city, all put together to commemorate the bombing of Exeter in 1942.

Edith’s Walk is available to download from the theatre companies website, www.sourdoughtheatre.com, free of charge. The tour can be downloaded onto any mp3 player, ipod or smart phone and can be experienced at an audience member’s convenience. To launch the project, group led tours will be taking place on May 7th at various times throughout the day.

Let SourDough take you back to old Exeter, to a time of romance and rationing. Experience the city through the eyes of 1940’s shop girl when Exeter was the ‘Jewel of the West’.

SUMMARY:The Exeter Blitz Project
DESCRIPTION:
ONLY 7 Performances Left...Don't miss this beautiful and moving tribute to the people and the city of Exeter. Book online now at www.bikeshedtheatre.co.uk

“On the night of May 3rd, I recall walking up the road to a vantage point during a longer than usual, noisier than usual air raid, and seeing the heart of the city of Exeter ablaze. This was The Blitz - or as my diary recorded this unfamiliar word, the Blizt. And I added, next day, with all the reserve of one of those great stiff-upper-lip wartime films, Did not bother to go to school.” - Roger Free (11 years old in 1942)

Between 1940 and 1942 Exeter was raided by the German Luftwaffe 19 times. The worst raid took place in the early hours of May 4th, 1942. This event dramatically altered the landscape of the city of Exeter forever.

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Exeter Blitz in May 2012, Viva Voce, in collaboration with the Bike Shed Theatre, have created a theatrical blitz experience, which will share and celebrate the real-life stories of those who experienced the Blitz here in Exeter.

Viva Voce have interviewed over 20 people who were between the ages of 6 and 25 in 1942. The play is a testament to their extraordinary stories.

Comments from audiences so far include, stunning, moving, heartwarming, worthwhile theatre, fantastic!
